AdHoc Studio is a diverse team of developers driven by a pursuit of excellence in storytelling. Our DNA is made up of former employees of Telltale Games, Night School Studio and Ubisoft having written and directed such games as Tales From the Borderlands, The Wolf Among Us, The Walking Dead, and Minecraft: Story Mode. We draw inspiration from all forms of media and pride ourselves on our distinctive approach to interactive narrative in games. Our goal is to create resonant experiences that put the player in charge of the story, giving them agency where most games take it away.
About the Role
AdHoc Studio is searching for a Junior Writer with an interest in interactive narrative to contribute to the creative development of an internal project. The job will require working closely with other writers, designers, and directors, creating playable stories and exploring new ways to tell them. The position does not require previous industry experience, just samples of written work with an ear for dialog and the patience and willingness required to learn on the job.
- Write dialog and scenes as assigned
- Take and collate notes as needed
- Collaborate across disciplines to identify and deliver writing needs
- Match the tone set by a lead writer
- Contribute ideas and pitches in writers’ rooms
- Ability to give and take criticism in a professional manner
- Positive and self-driven attitude with the ability to participate in a collaborative environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of interactive narrative games
- Strong ear for dialogue
- Experience working remotely

- Please include a 10 page (or less) script with an emphasis on strong dialogue and drama in screenplay format. We will not review writing samples in any other format. This role requires you to write compelling dialog on a deadline and more often than not, in traditional screenplay format.
